    teaser_tuesdays1MizB of Should Be Reading hosts the Teaser Tuesdays weekly event

    Here are the rules:
    * Grab your current read
    * Let the book fall open to a random page
    * Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12
    *You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
    * Please avoid spoilers!

    This week’s teaser is:
    “Her cheeks burned under his intense gaze like an inexperienced girl at her debut. She clenched her teeth and tried to control her rising anxiety, but her hand trembled when she reached out to place it in William’s as they joined another couple in a circle.”
    pg. 172 – Ransome’s Honor by Kaye Dacus

    – I’m absolutely adoring this Jane Austen era book about Julia Witherington who doesn’t receive the expected proposal from William Ransome and promises not to ever care about him again. But when their paths cross again, all bets are off. This is the first in a new series from Kaye, and I can’t wait to finish this one and read the others in the next few years. I bet you’ll love it, too!

    pg. 49 – Amelia and the Outlaw by Lorraine Heath

    – I haven’t actually started this book yet, but I’m super-excited to start it tonight. It’s another YA–just for teens. Just my kind of book. 🙂

    pg. 49 – Deadly Intent by Camy Tang

    – Totally enjoying Camy Tang’s new book–available today! (And don’t forget mine is available today, too!) Check out my interview her and a book giveaway on Friday. Yay!

    This week’s teaser is:
    “The goal was to save the penguins, honor Reverand Alexander’s memory–and aquairium contributions–and do the best job she could. So when exactly had the goal altered to involve Carter?”
    pg. 106 – Return to Love by Betsy St. Amant

    – I’m super-exicted about this book by my good friend Betsy. 🙂 It releases July 1 and is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and lots of other retailers. Betsy did tons of research for this book, and it comes through clearly. It’s like she really works at an aquarium with penguins. But I know she doesn’t. 🙂 Hope you’ll enjoy it too!

    pg. 48 – Deadly Intent by Camy Tang

    – I’ve only cracked the cover of this book so far, but I’m so excited to read it! Camy is a delightful author and I can’t wait to enjoy this book that releases July 14. Camy and I are both Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense authors, and I’m so excited to be part of the same line. Enjoy!

    This week’s teaser is:
    “Trudie thought it might be easier for a chicken to learn how to climb a tree than for her to learn how to glide. ‘Okay, got it. Sort of.’ No, she didn’t really have it.”
    Love Finds You in Humble Texas by Anita Higman, page 182

    – I’ve enjoyed a couple books in the Love Finds You line, and hope this one will be just as fun. It’s got a sister dynamic that is always a fun part of a good read.

    This week’s teaser is:
    “The second thing I was aware of was that someone clutched my hand. It was a strong, powerful touch and the first physical sensation I experienced with my return to earthly life.”
    90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, page 44

    – I hung onto this borrowed book from my sister for nearly 4 months. But then I was headed back to Arizona, and I figured I should really read it so I could give it back to her when I was with the family. I decided to start the book the night before my flight. And I devoured the first 75 pages that night. Turns out this nonfiction book that’s been on the NYT Best Sellers List forever is more gripping than a lot of the fiction I’ve been reading lately. Amazing testimony.

    * Please avoid spoilers!

    This week’s teaser is:
    “His feet pounded the ground, but it seemed to take forever for him to reach the entrance. Breaths coming quickly and shoulders rising and falling heavily, he yanked open the door and darted down the hallway passing one, two, three doors.”
    – Okay, so I’m totally cheating here! This is a couple lines from my new work in progress, tentatively titled The Disappearance of Devin Keating. It’s about all I have time to read this week, as I’m busy working on my first round of edits.

    Teaser Tuesday – Twice Loved

    * Please avoid spoilers!

    This week’s teaser is:

    “Well, love and devotion didn’t happen overnight, and in time she would learn to love this kind, gentle man. She needed to be patient.”
    – From Twice Loved by Lori Copeland, page 171

    So I haven’t actually started reading this book, but it’s on the loan from the library. (Don’t worry, I’ve added a low jack to it so it won’t disappear along with various socks and my other recent library debacle.) I’m really looking forward to reading this one.

    Teaser Tuesdays – The Graveyard Book

    * Please avoid spoilers!

    This week’s teaser is:

    “Bod thought, then he smiled, momentarily, and it lit his face like the flash of a lightbulb. He pulled a crumpled sheet of newspaper from a packing case, flattened it out as best he could, then pushed it underneath the door, leaving only a corner on his side of the doorway.”
    – From The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, page 136

    This is the winner of the 2009 Newbery Medal Award for excellence in children’s literature. I love children’s lit and am generally a fan of Newberry winners. However, I’m finding that this book starts darkly and has yet to lighten up after nearly 70 pages. I’m curious how it will move forward.
